Food as of Late

Hey guys! I hope everyone had a fantastic Valentine’s Day! I apologize for the radio silence lately. I haven’t been feeling very good lately, so I haven’t been feeling the blog!

I don’t know why I’ve been feeling bad-I think something I’m eating is making me sick, but I don’t know what, and if I don’t eat the exact right thing at the right time in the right amount, I feel sick. And I don’t know what the right thing, time, or amount is. I’ve mostly felt better the last couple of days but it feels kind of rocky. It’s just really frustrating!

On that lovely note, I have some pictures of food! Yay!

For Valentine’s Day….I was working. I’m not sure if I mentioned this, but I recently started working at a vet. It’s a lot of fun!

Afterwards, I ended up stopping by home for dinner and kitty time.

Dinner was BBQ chicken with mashed sweet potatoes and green beans.

IMG_1258

Plus bread pudding for dessert! The bread pudding is insanely good-it has rum sauce! It’s a family recipe-would anybody be interested in it? If so I can post it!

In terms of food as of late, it’s been a little bit different. Sort of carb heavy-not why I would necessarily normally eat but you gotta do what you gotta do.

IMG_1226

A veggie panini with pesto aioli and a baby salad.

IMG_1227

Tea with a blueberry scone. I met up with my sister for tea on her birthday instead of lunch because I wasn’t feeling well earlier, but by the time we went out, I was starving!

IMG_1228

Happy Birthday Natalie!

IMG_1229

Baked potato, glazed salmon, and salad.

IMG_1230

Simple breakfast of eggs+carbs.

IMG_1235

I can buy this with meal plan dollars which means it’s basically free. I’m not complaining.

IMG_1236

Salmon burger.

IMG_1237

This is Thursday morning’s breakfast. I do track workouts on Thursday mornings, and since the track is on the opposite side of campus, I went to a different dining hall for breakfast! They have far superior pancakes. That scrambled egg looking mixture is actually scrambled tofu!

IMG_1238

Flatbread, brown rice, and teriyaki bass.

IMG_1245

Turkey with salsa and guacamole with a salad, plus mashed root veggies.

IMG_1246

Keeping it very simple the morning of my rat dissection…which I survived!

Another dining hall breakfast (brunch technically!)

How was your Valentine’s Day?

CS

Happy Friday! Who’s ready for the weekend? My night will be spent on schoolwork. Meh. On the plus side, I was reading some of my posts from this time last year and they were so much more sad-my last fall was so much harder!

Anyways, I’ve been working on CS since my last class. Until my next class in a little bit which is CS section. Which is directed followed by CS lecture. After which I’m going to lock myself in a coffeeshop off campus and work on my CS problems.

YAY.

On the fitness front, I went to Crossfit this morning so I wouldn’t waste time this afternoon waiting for it to start and I can get to work sooner. I had plans on running this evening before locking myself in said coffeeshop, but I can. not. walk.

Yesterday I did squats. And while I know it’s a bit early for Halloween, I’m definitely rocking the Frankenstein walk. Yesterday morning’s workout incorporated a new piece of equipment for me-the stair climber. I wanted some low intensity cardio I could zone out for, so I spend 45 minutes on that thing. The good news is that I didn’t fall off…I followed that with 8 minutes of 2 squats every 30 seconds, for a total of 32 squats. I didn’t even go that heavy-last time I used 20 pounds more (and then I REALLY couldn’t walk the next day). But man. Ow.

Foodwise, breakfast has been yogurt bowls.

And lunches have been packed or bought quickly. The first is a Trader Joe’s salad that I really enjoyed!

Yesterday before lab I was starving so I ran to a cafe for a quick turkey, cranberry, and brie on whole wheat.

IMG_9522

Lunch today was an old classic from the summer-green bean salad with balsamic vinaigrette, dried cranberries, and sunflower seeds. Plus a little turkey stolen from the dining hall the night before.

In addition, last night I learned the true meaning of the “death” in the death by chocolate cake at the dining hall. Yeahhh I felt like death! I seriously could not focus on anything, so I went outside and practiced my jump roping. Note to self-next time: LONG SLEEVES! I have some nice little welts on my arms now. Cute.

Ok, now I really need to get back to CS….

Living the Self Hosted Life

Hey guys! How are you feeling? I’m feeling sore. My achilles was in a lot of pain this morning but that seems to be fading, but my QUADS are super sore. And thanks to my magic compression socks, my calves are fine. However, biking around wasn’t the most fun thing in the world this morning.

Clearly I did not do a morning workout! I slept in and it was fabulous. I think I’m still behind on sleep though because I needed an afternoon nap as well!

Breakfast was a classic-overnight oats. It was super thick though. I think I need more liquid next time!

IMG_7299Oats, plain yogurt, chia seeds, dried cranberries, and apple. Topped with very thoroughly cooked berries!

So, something strange and frustrating happened this morning. I lost my turkey. I couldn’t find it ANYWHERE while I was making my lunch, and I was rely angry because that meant it had likely gotten lost in transit and it was a lot of nice turkey that was going to make up quite a few of this week’s meals!

Well, this afternoon I found it. I somehow managed to throw it away this morning in the process of looking for it. It was actually still kinda cold! But I think I’m getting new turkey…SO frustrating though! At least it wasn’t sitting in my car all day today like I was worried it was!

Lunch was supposed to be a Chef’s salad, but without turkey it was just kind of a salad with tomatoes, cucumbers, eggs, and avocado.

IMG_7300Still good, but would have been better with turkey.

So, this quarter I’m in Spanish 3. The class is entirely in Spanish. Which is fine, except I have Bio 10 minutes afterward, and it’s surprisingly confusing to have to switch around the way that I think. It’s funny because when I take Spanish, I definitely think in Spanish a lot.

Snack was carrots with a beautiful pool of sunflower seed butter.

IMG_7303And dinner was dining hall food. Not too shabby today-some type of Mexican seasoned chicken, salad, and my new favorite combo thanks to last week’s breakfasts: quinoa and sunflower seeds! Seriously-you need to try this!

IMG_7305And dessert-a Honey Oats and Coconut KIND bar. I’m really excited that KIND has come out with these new, nut-free granola bars! This one only has 7g of sugar!

IMG_7306And now onto today’s topic-living the self hosted life.

In summary: I don’t like it so far. Sure, I have more theme and style options. I got search engine optimization, which I’m still working on setting up. Fun fact-one of my top searches last week was “items made in the year 1842.” Ummm ok? Clearly need to work on that optimization!

I know there are more benefits-does anyone have any specific suggestions for me?

Now the cons. My number one annoyance right now is spam. I have to filter it myself, and there’s a whole lot more than I thought. And some things I have to make a decision about whether or not are spam. It’s a pain. And I still get email notifications about every spam comment which I really should turn off.

Next problem-is it just me or does my blog take forever to load? It was taking FOREVER to load the other day. And then my pictures came up black and I started freaking out. Until I realized it was my computer that sometimes likes to spaz out and freeze up when I go on the Internet. So maybe it doesn’t take forever to load for you guys and it’s just me? Let me know!

Last problem-I’m not sure how the transfer affects different blog reader sites, so I’m fairly certain I’ve lost readers as a result. For a while, the new posts weren’t coming up on Bloglovin if you followed my wordpress.com account, but now they are and as a result I see 3 Fitness is Sweet posts on my Bloglovin reader every time I post so I can tell it’s working!

So what do you guys think about self hosting-like, love, or hate it?
