I’m now 21. How did that happen? Where did the time go?? When I started this blog I was just a teenager! I think I’ve definitely matured in the past year-I’ve figured out what I want to do with my life which is absolutely amazing and crazy.
This has been an amazing weekend filled with ruminants, friends, and family and I could not ask for anything more.
My birthday was May 3, but this weekend was awesome with a little bit of everything.
It was 90 degrees on Friday, and as soon as I was out of class on Friday, I decided I needed to get off campus so I took a trip down south for some retail therapy. It got some awesome spring clothes-when did Old Navy start having such cute things?? There was a big sale there! Plus some much needed new workout pants/leggings that I’m in love with.
Friday evening involved quite the adventure with one of my BFFs. We were trying to go to Whole Foods, and I tried to take a different route but we ended up driving through crazy windy hills for 45 minutes on accident. Amazing views though!
Saturday morning I left super early to drive to UC Davis with some other pre-vet students for a beef cattle wet lab, which was awesome. I LOVE cows-I really want to get some food animal vet experience! We learned how to move the cows through a chute, how to give them physicals, and how to herd them.
Saturday night and bleeding into Sunday morning, I had a birthday party. It was seriously exactly what I wanted and more. Nights like these remind me why I love my school so much. I have some awesome friends, some of which I haven’t seen since fall quarter since they were abroad!
Cupcakes of course!
My party also featured some green juice-my goal was to get everyone to try it, and nearly everyone loved it!
I was so excited to make a playlist too-I’ve gotten so much spin music lately that was perfect!
Having so many people I love in one place is just such an amazing thing.
The night ended in the best way possible too-frog catching! The dry lake around campus has had a ton of baby frogs everywhere, and I wanted to see some! Look at this little guy.
The morning was leisurely-I woke up starving and had breakfast before going for a casual 3.5 mile run through campus.
I met up with my family at Lyfe Kitchen for an early dinner since I had a meeting later.
Guacamole and roasted artichokes to start.
Gluten free chicken and avocado burger for dinner.
And then cupcakes!
They’re flourless chocolate! The icing had dairy so I mostly avoided it but figured a bit wouldn’t kill me.
That being said, they were pretty deeply chocolate and I have zero caffeine tolerance right now so I was kind of dying afterwards…But so delicious!
Overall, it was an incredible day and weekend, and I’m so grateful for all the people in my life!
Happy Birthday!! It looks like you had an awesome weekend! Your friends know you well with those cupcakes! 😉
