It’s good you know when you need a break-so many people don’t!

I especially hate seeing people post updates complaining about taking a rest day so they are going to “actively rest” by going on a 4 mile walk or hike. Give me a break. Last time I checked rest = rest. I wonder if they do it for attention or if they are truly obsessed and make excuses that they consider acceptable.

I 100% believe that exercise can be addicting. Don’t get me wrong, I love working out at intense levels 6 days a week, but I never go over an hour, I rest, fuel my body, listen to what it wants, and refuse to punish myself by spending hours in the gym. What is the final outcome? Burn out? DOMS? There’s a difference between giving your body a good workout and ignoring it’s true physical signals to SLOW DOWN and moderation.

Preach girl.

Exercise may be seen as addictive because it releases endorphins in your body… so you feel good about it… that being said, it’s important for your body to get the rest it needs to healthfully repair your muscles! …Also, I hope that you feel better and figure out what your allergy is!!

I moved very little at school, and now when I run nearly an every day, I feel better. It seems to me, it is all about the balance. If your muscles hurt – have a rest. That’s all 😉

It’s easy to feel pressured based on what everyone else is doing, and to compare what you are doing with everyone else! I’m glad you found a better place!

I think that I’ve struggled with this multiple times over the past few years. Looking back, I think it was exacerbated by being a HLB who posted my workouts every single day and compared my exercise to others. I felt pressured to go longer, be faster, do more so that I would look impressive on my blog. How sad is that?! Since stopping blogging, I am so, so much more in tune with my body so I think not blogging came with a heap of unexpected benefits, even though I miss it sometimes. Anyway this just turned into a ramble, but in short, I agree 100% with what you’re saying!!
